Contact Lens for Astigmatism

Has anyone who wears gas permeable contact lenses ever got neo-vascularization of the eyes?

I stopped wearing my gas permeable lenses for almost a year to allow my eyes to heal after having been diagnosed with corneal neo-vascularization. They say that gas permeable contact lenses offer the most oxygen to the eye but I've noticed since I started wearing them once again that my eyes are very red only after a day of wearing them. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a remedy for this neo-vascularization(new blood vessel growth)?

  1. Gas perms do not allow as much oxygen to pass thru as do soft lenses.Still...neovas from gas perms is rather unusual. Did you sleep in them? I wore rigid, non permeable lenses for YEARS before there was any corneal vascularzation. Going w/ soft lenses will resolve the issue but will not give the same visual acuity that you're used to with the semi-rigid lenses.
