The army is my passion, I want to be in the army more then anything. I am in good physical/mental shape, but the problem is, I have vision problems. I have 20/20 vision out of my right eye, but out of my left I have astigmatism, and have 20/60 vision, and it cannot be repaired. Can I still be in the army? Please, I have wanted to be in the army ever since I was a little kid. Is there any way?
I am 17, by the way.
Thank you.

I’ve heard abou that FreshLook stuff- but the ones for astigmatism are so pronounced and un-natural looking as the ones w/ out astigmatism.
Where can you find some that actually look NATURAL for toric color contact lenses and astigmatism?
I’m looking for a green pair. Maybe a jade.
I can’t find any good ones!
Again, the FreshLook ones look WAY too UN-NATURAL.
Or do the regular ones look the same as the non-astigmatisms do?
I dunno. I really really really want green!!!
Ew. I have brown eyes and I ABSOLUTELY HATE THEM.
Help!!
=[
please!

I just went to the eye doctor for and exam and to talk about getting contacts for the first time. He said I have astigmatism so that will make getting contacts a bigger deal and it’ll be more complicated. I asked what astigmatism is, and all he told me was that most people’s eyes are shaped like baseballs, but mine are shaped like footballs. What does that even mean? Why/how does that affect getting contacts? Is it worth it? Despite his explanation, I still don’t really know what astigmitism is. I can’t even spell the durned word! I just need someone to explain this to me, or direct me to an informational site…
Oh also, I don’t really know much about contacts in general…

I have had this off and on for a couple years now. I have a dizziness/lightheadedness that totally stops my life. It gets worse when it gets dark. I have had a CAT scan of the head done and it came back fine. I almost feel as if I am going to pass out. Blood pressure is ok. Sugar is ok I think. Been to the Ear, Nose, and Throat doc and he seemed to think everything was ok. I have no balance problems, have never actually passed out. Have never fallen down either. I do have a slight astigmatism and was wondering if something is wrong with my eyes since I have no balance problems or maybe even sinuses or allergies. Can’t get to the doc till next month. I eat three meals a day like I am supposed to and get plenty of exercise at work. Am a little overweight. No fever. Anybody have any suggestions or does this puzzle everybody else too?

Another question about my eye problems. As I mentioned in a previous question, I have astigmatism in my right eye and my doctor won’t help me in correcting it. I’m calling him tomorrow and demanding he do something about it. My question this time is this: Does anyone know if you can wear an astigmatism contact in an eye that doesn’t need it? This would be my left (since he said I don’t have an astigmatism in my left eye). Can I wear one regular in my left and one astigmatism in my right? Or can I just wear astigmatism contacts in both eyes even though my left doesn’t need it? I wore contacts for astigmatism growing up in both eyes (from my previous doctor–the one that died) because he said I had it in both eyes. My doctor now says it’s only my right eye and that I never had one in my left. I’m so messed up right now…………Any help or info? Anyone have only one astigmatism like me? Why did my previous doctor tell me I have it in both eyes and my new doctor says one?

I am 20 years old and have had high myopia and astigmatism my entire life. Recently I have started to use marijuana recreationally but it seems to better my vision at distances and I heard it can relieve pressures of the eye, which I happen to have a ridiculous amount of pressure in my eye with extensive stress on my retna. I would like to know if Medical Marijuana would be a legitimate way for me to go about treating my vision problems.

I use Acuvue Contact Lenses for Astigmatism for about a year now. And I was wondering if I can wear a normal contact lenses? Like the Circle Lenses. I heard from someone I know that also have astigmatism that she is wearing circle lenses from Geo, not the Toric or the one for astigmatism. Is it safe? Will it damage my eyes?
And do you know any site that I can buy circle lenses?
Thanks!

I went to the eye doctor to get fitted for contacts today, and it turns out I have astigmatism in my right eye, and not in my left.
So they’re going to order a trial pair of contacts, the left one normal, and the right one made for astigmatism.
How will this feel on my eyes? Is it going to feel awkward or hurt?
I’ve never had contacts before.
thank you! 10 points best answer
oh, and he said that the one for astigmatism will be a little bigger than the other one.

Well my eye doctor told me I had astigmatism, but not enough so that I couldn’t just wear regular contacts…but my contacts feel SO uncomfortable in my eye. I have tried everything, contacts for dry eye…acuvue advanced…everything. And I’m started to wonder maybe it’s the astigmatism…what does it feel like if you wear a regular contact with astigmatism?

I was reading on the internet that astigmatism is usually present when someone is born. I’m almost 26 and just found out that I have astigmatism, but I had pretty much perfect vision until it started getting blurry a few months ago. If I’ve had it since I was born, why didn’t I experience symptoms until now? I’m just wondering if anyone else who has astigmatism didn’t have any problems with it until they were in their 20s or older.

The reason I ask is because I was prescribed Acuvue Oasys lenses with a Base Curve of 8.6, but when I look for them they only come in 8.4 and 8.8. However, there are Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism with a base curve of 8.6. Can I get those? Does that mean I have astigmatism?

I have some visual anomalies, and the optometrist only detects a slight .25D astigmatism in each eye. I was wondering are there ever cases where such a slight astigmatism really bothers a person .. more than it normally does to the general population? — Or perhaps something was missed in the 45minute-1hour dilated exam?
No glasses were prescribed, and she tried alot of lenses in the photoropter but my normal vision always beat it out on the eye chart. I read down to the 20/15 line with both eyes, without any correction. So she said other than the astigmatism my eyes were like hawks, and healthy.
If not, I wonder if I should seek neurological opinions.
Any fact, fiction, or anecdotal reply is appreciated.
– Thanks for the answer. At night is when I notice some of my ‘anomalies’ the most. I assume due to the pupil dilation in the dark.
Halo’s are present, and starbursts on lights big and small.
Is this typical of astigmatism? What type of things are you referring to ‘at night’ that people would need correcting (be experiencing) ?
I know that .25 is rarely corrected, just asking uncommonly, even rarely.. is it possible that for whatever reason such a low measured astigmatism cause more problems for one person than another. ?
Thanks
………………
David – Would you mind sending me an email? I would like to converse shortly with you if possible. I noticed you have no contact.
Or if any eye professional reasons this question, would you contact me in some way (view my profile) – I would like to confer just a bit. Thanks in advance.

Can you please recommend good contact lenses for strong astigmatism?
Three years ago I tried several contact lenses and they still were very blurry. I had no choice but to continue with glasses.
Is there anything new in the market for strong astigmatism (I just have it in one eye)?
Please let me know if you are happy with your lenses so I can talk to my doctor about it.
Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Regular contacts rather than ones for astigmatism, I mean?
My prescription is:
Right eye:
Sphere: -5.75, Cylinder: -75, Axis: 150, Base Curve: 87.
Left eye:
Sphere: -6.00, Cylinder: -75, Axis: 10, Base Curve: 87.
Also, would my contacts be cheaper if I have insurance? How much cheaper?
