I am a new contact wearer, I have astigmatism but they gave me regular contacts. I am having blurry vision.?
Could this be from astigmatism?
Questions and Answers About Contact Lens For Astigmatism
Could this be from astigmatism?
I have to wear acuvue astigmatism lenses, so there a bit more expensive than regular one. I want a price under at least 0 for a years supply(if it’s possible!)
(P.S. could someone tell me the cost of contacts at costco?)
my optometrist recently told me i had astigmatism and i’m afraid that i will not be able to play sports that well anymore (i forgot to ask her about this)
i have astigmatism & want to get contacts. Can I use the same prescription as my eye glasses or do i need a new one? & what are the price ranges?
Hi guyz,
Just wanna know about the Natural treatments available for Correcting or Improving vision.I have a slight Astigmatism of less than 1 in both eyes. I am planning to have a career in Armed forces(may be flying). So i want to know about any Natural or Alternative treatment available for Rectifying this condition. I dont want to go for Surgical procedure like LASIK or PRK. I have heard about Bates method and Exercises, but dont know how much effective they are in correcting Astigmatism. Please advice.
Thanks in advance.
My brother got a lens prescription with only one eye showing some astigmatism: Cylinder -0.25 (Axis 85)
Since the lowest increment with prescriptions is .25 (e.g., 1.25, 1.50, 1.75… etc) I was wondering how important it is that I get him toric lenses for that eye (i.e. for astigmatism).
Problem is most companies sell toric lenses starting with .50 or .75 (cylinder), and also the idea of buying two types of lenses (normal and toric) is off-putting.
Custom made lenses are one solution but too expensive.
I should also note that, in the past, I’ve ordered myself lenses that were .25 off from my prescription in cylinder and power, and it made no difference to me.
So bottom line: should I ignore the -.25 astigmatism and just order normal lenses?
Expert or informed opinions please.
I had currently asked this question a while ago, but I had received no answers, so here goes.
I had talked to my optometrist recently about contacts,
and she said I would have to get a different type for my astigmatism in
each eye. Which was -0.75 (cylindrical value of left & right ear)
She had said that I would need toric lenses or another type, which was in between regular or toric and I forgot it sorry.
But I was just wondering what exactly is the difference between all 3 types. And if my astigmatism was that bad?
Thanks in advance
When I got contacts I could read the writing on the tv. Now that I’ve has them for about 4 years, I cant read anything on it. Its all blurry. My mom has had glasses for about 20 years and hers is the same. Why is this? I also have astigmatism.
I have double-eyelids in both eyes when wearing glasses/not wearing glasses, but my right eye becomes single-eyelid when I insert the contact lens in. It’s baffled me for months.
I have slight astigmatism in both eyes, and wear non-astigmatism contact lens. My optician suggested that it should’nt be a problem though as my astigmatism isn’t high. Could that be the problem?
Thanks
instead of regular ones?
I have astigmatism. I have had it but I was just thinking about what it means.
My eyes are astigmatism. And i want these contacts but they don’ sell astigmatism in pop c lens.
Is it safe to wear these without the astigmatism/ toric kind kind? Link below

What is the difference between astigmatism lens and toric lens
I’ve been wanting to get circle lenses for close to a year now and have been researching the last couple of weeks on brands, colors and types. I have astigmatism in both eyes and am near sighted (I believe that’s the right term – basically everything further away is blurry) and I have been hearing a lot of rumors about circle lenses and astigmatic people.
I wear glasses daily and have used regular contact lenses before, but I was wondering on if toric lenses are actually needed to be bought? Ive read that some people don’t even use toric lenses and just get regular prescription circle lenses. Is this okay? I know that the Nudy and Angel series are supposedly a better fit, are there others?
And the last bit is that, I was reading on how people were inputing their prescriptions when buying their lenses and what I don’t understand is whether you’re supposed to do the whole take the half value of your cylinder value (i believe that’s the one) and add it to the spherical value thing, does that mean a better fit? Or a better prescription?
My prescription is:
O.D. -2.75 -0.50 135
O.S. -1.50 -0.50 50
SPH CYL AXIS
Quite a confusing business these circle lenses. It’d be much appreciated to hear from fellow astigmatics circle lens wearers and their experiences, and also from any professionals in the Optometry field. Thank you!
Hi, I’m thinking about looking into laser/lasik eye surgery for astigmatism in my right eye. Any one here done it before with good results? Last time I talked to my doc, he said he didn’t recommend it. Something about it eventually coming back.
I have astigmatism, and the doctor tried to fit me for astigmatism lenses, but none of them fit properly, so now I’m just wearing regular Acuvue contacts. I can still see, but it’s not as clear as it should be, but oh well, I’ll live. Now, I’, getting new sunglasses (that I’ll wear on top of my contacts). Is it possible to get non-prescription sunglasses for astigmatism?
I bought my contacts online (acuvue 1 day astigmatism). They were very cheap, nearly half what my optometrist wanted.
Are they safe? why are they discounted so much?
i only wear them for about 3 hours per week
I’ve been using contacts for over 2 years now. I’ve never had problems with my right eye contacts but always with my left eye, which has astigmatism. I first started with Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism with Hydraclear. Even with a new lense, I notice a little discomfort. Now I’m using ACUVUE OASYS for ASTIGMATISM with HYDRACLEAR Plus and I’m still feeling a little discomfort. The difference I’ve notice between the two is that when I put a new Oasys lens in, the discomfort isn’t that bad the first time I put it in, but later it irritates me and it irritates after the first time I use it.
I’m thinking maybe it could just be my left eye having trouble and not the contacts themselves. I’m not sure. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
Am I not cleaning/storing my contacts right? I always rise my container out with hot water and let it dry before putting solution and my contacts in. Should I take the contacts out my eye, put them in my hand, and rub them with solution before storing?
i know u can get colored contact lenses for astigmatism… but does it cost e xtra than regular colored contact lenses?? and how much extra?
I have two questions. My first question is about the price of glasses in Ireland. Its just getting to the point of ridiculous that one pair of glasses, with nothing special done to the lenses, is costing me close to 300 euro. Can anyone give me some recommendations for cheap opticians, preferably in Dublin? Or is my best bet to head north and get them there? Whats the average price of glasses in the north in your experience? Why are glasses in Ireland so expensive?
My second question is how do I choose frames if I have an astigmatism. I picked out frames in Specsavers and apparently I can’t have those ones because the curvature of the lense will poke out or something. My eyes aren’t that bad but very complicated to make lenses for. Does anyone have any tips as to what types of frames suit astigmatisms?
Thanks!
When I searched on the internet it said that the axis was how much the lenses rotated while in the eye, and that the higher prescription the more blurred the vision is if the axis is wrong. The dailies only give axis options of 20 90 160 or 180. Can I use the axis of 20 for my prescribed 40 and 90 for my prescribed 110? When I searched for the lenses with my prescription I only get the option of buying the 2 weekly that I already buy from the opticians. I really only want them for emergencies.
I was wondering if anyone uses the acuvue oasys contacts for astigmatism? I am wanting to get contacts again but I have astigmatism in one eye and not the other. I wore contacts about five years ago but stopped because the one for astigmatism was so uncomfortable for me. I am hoping the comfort of them has gotten better in time. What do you think of the Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism Contact Lenses? Thank you so much!
Hi
Okay so I have astigmatism, and I am to wear contact lenses, but I have been such an idiot not caring much about my eyes that I wore then like once in a blue moon. My questions is…Everytime that I try to wear them it makes my eyes hurt and then they get red. Do I just have to get my eyes used to this new thing in my eye? Or do I just have like an allergic reaction? I can very well call my eye Doc. but I thought I’d get some advice from people who wears them.
they are astigmatism contacts, or else I wouldn’t be asking this.
I have these high cylinders with spherical numbers also as -3.00 and -4.25.i have tried the lenses that my contact lense pratisionre gave but they are not as acurate as my glasses are.i have axis as 028 and 002.i have tried a coup[le of them but nothing is as clearas the glasses.I dont want to wear the glasses. If anyone has a better option please write. Thanks
I recently had an annual eye checkup last month and I have new contacts and glasses, but I still can’t see as clearly in my right eye even with the updated prescription and even being tested for astigmatism and all kinds of other eye problems. I kinda had a funny feeling about my eye dr. anyways. So anyone think its possible that he could’ve overlooked it somehow or could it be something else?
PS: Both My eyes are the same prescription; however, before my exam my left was worse than my right. Currently they are the same now.
my eyedoctor told me today that i have astigmatism. i have trouble seeing from a distance so i might possibly get contacts. what is astigmatism and is it bad? will contacts be more uncomfortable for me because of them? also will contacts change my eye color because i love my green eyes and i don’t want them to change
I’ve tried torrics before but in lower light conditions like morning and dusk my pupils get quite large and so things start to get quite blurry. Anybody have an experience with a good brand of contact lenses that have a fairly large optical zone for a person like myself. I’m getting more into astronomy and photography and glasses are becoming a nuisance. my prescription isn’t very strong.
looking for a specific brand of torics that have a larger optical zone
i wouldnt know because i cant tell the difference seeing as i have astigmatism but someone just brought this up to me and burst my bubble about movies in 3-d
