I have dry eyes, so my contacts get blurry and extremely dry during the day. Drops do not help. After about 3 days of wearing them, they are blurry from the second I wear them until the afternoon (they get better at night). I notice when I open a new pack, they’re comfortable and I can actually see. I have astigmatism so I was wondering if they have one day contact lenses for this? I’ve seen commercials for one day (Acuvue) but my eye doctor said they don’t come for people with astigmatism. Is there any other brand that does?

I have a small prescription of -1.75 in both of my eyes and I have astigmatism in both as well. However, in my left eye I have lenticular astigmatism instead of regular astigmatism. As a result, contact lenses are hard to fit because of the lack of soft front surface toric lenses available. My question is, with my eyes am I still able to have laser eye surgery done (Lasik, PRK, etc.)? Thanks

If my prescription is -3.75 Cylinder for astigmatism, but I can see well enough with -2.75 contact lenses, could I wear prescription sunglasses with a -1.00 cylinder in conjunction with my -2.75 contact lenses to achieve a total of -3.75? Or can they not be combined like that?

About 10 years ago I went to the eye doctor, and got fitted for contact lenses. I have astigmatism, so I was fitted with soft toric lenses that are weighted on one side. After about six months, I ended up just going back to glasses.
I am a network technician by trade. Frequently this requires me to look under desks, or perform other tasks in which my head is rotated to peer under furniture or something similar. As soon as my head was not perfectly straight, gravity caused my weighted lenses to rotate which made my vision go out of focus.
My (then) eye doctor told me there really wasn’t a fix for the issue. That was a decade ago. I am curious if they now have developed lenses for people with astigmatism that don’t have that problem.

I’m looking for a new brand of soft contacts to wear, since I’ve already gotten 3 eye infections in the past few months with the Bausch + Lomb PureVision Toric ones I’m currently using (despite being very careful about cleaning them and whatnot.. I feel like it’s an issue with the contacts rather than the solution or my personal eyecare habits.)
I’ve tried Acuvue Oasys before and can’t wear that brand; they’re extremely uncomfortable.
So.. any recommendations for contact lenses that are good for someone with astigmatism and sensitive eyes?

I have astigmatism that seems to be getting worse. Are there contact lenses that are 1-day wear to correct this? My vision is -8, which is pretty bad, if that makes a difference in my option. I’ve been wearing the 1-days b/c I seem to have sensitive eyes and ended up with a very bad infection years ago when I was wearing the 2-week lenses. My eye doctor felt it best to use the 1-day lenses to keep things as clean as possible (I do end up wearing them for 2 days against his orders just to cut the cost a little).

I want contact lenses badly, hahahahaha! But my parents don’t allow me to wear them because they think I might refuse to take them off at the right time and they think I’ll get lazy. I don’t think I would act like that. I can wear my eyeglasses instead if there’s a time I shouldn’t wear them!
So uhh, that’s all my sharing, lol. Can a person with astigmatism like me wear contacts?
I would appreciate if you guys answer. Thanks!!

About two years ago, my eye doctor told me that I have astigmatism in one of my eyes. I didn’t think much of it and got glasses. This year, I got braces and I’m wishing I had gotten contact lenses. I’m a teenage girl and really don’t want to look "nerdy" and I hate wearing glasses so I think I should get contacts.
My mom told me that I could get contact lenses this year, but I have no idea where to start. I’d like to get color contacts to lighten up my almost black eyes and make them look a pretty color. I’ved looked at a few websites that sell color contacts, but they are not made for people with astigmatism. I’ve also read about "toric" lenses. What are they and can I wear them if I only have astigmatism in one eye? Can I wear normal lenses and would anything happen if I did? Are there any brands that you use that sell color contacts for people with astigmatism? Should I just get non-color contacts?
Thank you and sorry if that was kind of long. =)

I have worn special contact lenses for people with astigmatism before (hard lenses with correction for cornea and shortsightedness), but they did not work. I still had problems with blurring and had to squint alot to keep them in place as they seemed to move all the time.
I was wondering if this occurrs because my astigmatism is more severe than the lenses can cope with, or if it is due to the fact that I have an alernating squint (Strabismus). Would this effect my contact lense wearing abilities?
If so, should I just bite the bullet and save for LASIK? Or are there (cheaper) er…other ways of fixing my vision apart from glasses?
Thanks!
I meant ‘alternating’ squint. Me need to learn spell, yes?

I have developed a quite strong astigmatism over the years. Recently, it has become so strong that I have a hard time fitting in the contact lenses that optometrist prescribe for me. The lenses are quite uncomfortable and give me a headache. Mind you that I have been to a number of doctors over the last couple years and I have had the same problem. I am currently wearing glasses, which I cannot stand. I am thinking about having laser eye surgery done since my sister also has an astigmatism and knows a doctor that worked miracles with her. Please help me…I would rather just wear contact lenses that work for me! I live in Temecula, California…so any great optometrist referrals would be great!

I’ve been wanting to get circle lenses for close to a year now and have been researching the last couple of weeks on brands, colors and types. I have astigmatism in both eyes and am near sighted (I believe that’s the right term – basically everything further away is blurry) and I have been hearing a lot of rumors about circle lenses and astigmatic people.
I wear glasses daily and have used regular contact lenses before, but I was wondering on if toric lenses are actually needed to be bought? Ive read that some people don’t even use toric lenses and just get regular prescription circle lenses. Is this okay? I know that the Nudy and Angel series are supposedly a better fit, are there others?
And the last bit is that, I was reading on how people were inputing their prescriptions when buying their lenses and what I don’t understand is whether you’re supposed to do the whole take the half value of your cylinder value (i believe that’s the one) and add it to the spherical value thing, does that mean a better fit? Or a better prescription?
My prescription is:
O.D. -2.75 -0.50 135
O.S. -1.50 -0.50 50
SPH CYL AXIS
Quite a confusing business these circle lenses. It’d be much appreciated to hear from fellow astigmatics circle lens wearers and their experiences, and also from any professionals in the Optometry field. Thank you!

I was wondering if anyone uses the acuvue oasys contacts for astigmatism? I am wanting to get contacts again but I have astigmatism in one eye and not the other. I wore contacts about five years ago but stopped because the one for astigmatism was so uncomfortable for me. I am hoping the comfort of them has gotten better in time. What do you think of the Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism Contact Lenses? Thank you so much!

Hi
Okay so I have astigmatism, and I am to wear contact lenses, but I have been such an idiot not caring much about my eyes that I wore then like once in a blue moon. My questions is…Everytime that I try to wear them it makes my eyes hurt and then they get red. Do I just have to get my eyes used to this new thing in my eye? Or do I just have like an allergic reaction? I can very well call my eye Doc. but I thought I’d get some advice from people who wears them.
they are astigmatism contacts, or else I wouldn’t be asking this.

I’ve tried torrics before but in lower light conditions like morning and dusk my pupils get quite large and so things start to get quite blurry. Anybody have an experience with a good brand of contact lenses that have a fairly large optical zone for a person like myself. I’m getting more into astronomy and photography and glasses are becoming a nuisance. my prescription isn’t very strong.
looking for a specific brand of torics that have a larger optical zone

I currently wear Acuvue Advanced for Astigmatism contact lenses and for the most part have had success. The problem I have always seems to be with my right eye. Sometimes the lens gets out of focus and I can never get it to refocus properly. I have never had any issues with my left eye. I don’t know why this is happening. If their both my eyeballs and same brand contact lenses, what could be causing the one to shift out of focus and what can be done about so I can see out of my right eye properly?

So I want to know if I can find out what my astigmatism grade is on my box of regular contact lenses? Haha if that makes any sense. Anyway thanks in advance!
